It is often useful, as part of a conference, to be able to share files
and applications with the participants. There are a couple of different
ways to achieve this.
Data Sharing (In-band)
- This offers data transfer for slides, images and a shared applications
such as whiteboarding
- It operates to a standard called T.120
- The data traffic is merged with the conference traffic making
transmission simpler
- Output image may be restricted to the size and quality of the
video picture
Data Sharing (out-of-band)
- This offers data transfer for slides, images and a shared applications
such as whiteboarding
- It operates to a standard called T.120
- The data traffic is transmitted separately from the conference
traffic so can be larger size and higher quality
Additional Application
- Non-standard applications might be used to provide additional
features
- For example can introduce recorded video, text chat and animations
- Might require additional configuration of networks
