There are four key components of a video conferencing set-up. These
are:
- Video Input This is normally a camera
- Audio Input This is normally a microphone
- Video Output This might be a PC screen or a projector
- Audio Output This is normally a set of speakers
Varying each of these components affects the video conferencing experience.
For example using a large projector in a hall or lecture theatre allows
many students to view a conference.
Not all components are compatible in the same system. For example small
Web Cams cannot normally be connected directly to a projector without
involving a PC in the set-up. Before buying a system it is important
to look at all the elements together, and factor in the expected use
of the equipment such as the number of participants and viewers.
Use the navigation on the left to look at the different options for
setting up your video conference.
