Audionet

Audio Network and WMnet are providing schools and partner LEAs and Colleges with free access to thousands of production music files over the national education networks. Files can be used creatively for curriculum work.

Interactive whiteboard resources
WMnet have brought together a range of interactive whiteboard teaching materials to support and promote the creation and sharing of teaching resources to increase effective use of interactive whiteboards.

Climate Change Portal

WMnet have created a one-stop climate change portal with everything you need to learn about and teach climate change including:

- learning resources from age 5 to adult
- games, polls and quizzes
- a chance to ask climate change experts about climate change
- a variety of ways for young people to have their say about climate change

Gigajam is a computer-based tuition program for drums, bass, guitar and keyboard. It uses worksheets, video clips and software to play along with the band and assess performance, presented in musical notation and as a percentage score.

The WMnet licence with Gigajam gives every WMnet educational user free online access to the first five lessons for each instrument. Schools or individuals can buy any additional lessons for all or any instrument by contacting Gigajam.

Big day out logo

Foundation and KS1 modelling activities based around a ‘big day out’. http://bdo.nen.gov.uk They are ideal as whole class activities on an interactive whiteboard. More activities are planned for all around the country. WMnet worked with i-Board to produce 15 activities which will highlight the best of the West Midlands region especially in terms of industrial heritage.

Interactive

A series of focused cross-curricular interactive activities for teacher-led whiteboard teaching and for guided pupil use. Each year group contains a range of topics and activities which will support cross-curricular use of ICT. This resource is only accessible from West Midlands schools and other authorised West Midlands Local Authority computers.

CrossoverII Small

All the resources you need to run a successful Crossover II, collaborative D&T project. One school designs and builds a bridge and another school a buggy to cross the bridge. All this is supported with videos and worksheets.

To be successful it is vital that both schools are in close communication. This is where ICT comes in! Schools use e-mail and video conferencing to ensure that the bridge will take the buggy.
