Responding to Climate Change

It is important to realise that there are many uncertainties about climate change.

How much is it natural and how much is it man-made?
Is our world going to get hotter, drier, colder or wetter?

What we think about these things will affect what we feel we can do about them.
If climate change is already happening, we need to think about ADAPTING to new climates. This means finding ways to live with them.
If climate change is caused by humans, we need to REDUCE our emissions of greenhouse gases. This may limit the effect we are having, and is sometimes called mitigation.
Most scientists agree that humans are playing some part in accelerating climate change.  Many countries are therefore responding on that basis.
