Global responses to climate change – What is being done?

The main international agreement on climate change is known as The Kyoto Protocol. This became law in February 2005.

It sets targets for the maximum amount of Carbon dioxide that countries can produce. Countries which are "pollution-rich" can trade some of their allowance with countries which are "pollution-poor". However, some of the most "pollution-rich" countries have not yet agreed to be part of the Kyoto Protocol.
